Researchers have published an evaluation of DSmart Farming, an irrigation platform tested in twelve community greenhouses in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province. The 2026 paper reports experiments conducted in 2023–2024, comparing three moisture-triggered irrigation treatments with farmer-managed watering. The author team includes Thai universities and Spain-based Moblanc Robotics.

Each greenhouse controller combined root-zone moisture and air-condition measurements with local switching and a web management interface. The trial covered cherry tomato, broccoli, cabbage, Chinese kale and kale across two seasonal periods.

The authors report 41–60% lower water use and 20–29% higher yields than conventional practice, depending on crop and treatment. Preferred moisture settings differed between cherry tomato and the leafy crops. These are results from the studied production systems, not guaranteed savings for every greenhouse. The publication also describes misting and microclimate management, making the complete irrigation arrangement relevant to interpreting the comparison.
