Source.ag announced the acquisition of Optimal on 9 October 2026. Optimal’s founder Dave Hunter joined the Amsterdam company as vice president for autonomous control, together with the startup’s engineering team. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The announcement described Optimal’s use of physics and machine-learning models to control heating, ventilation, screens, lighting, carbon dioxide and irrigation. It also reported 13% higher yield and 27% lower energy use against a grower benchmark in a Dutch commercial greenhouse. These figures are company-reported results from that comparison and should not be interpreted as guaranteed improvements for other crops, facilities or operating conditions.
