Poladrone announced US$4.29 million in seed funding on 26 October 2021, in a company release distributed through PR Newswire. Wavemaker Partners led the round, with participation from the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation, ZB Capital and angel investors.

The Malaysian company had developed Oryctes for targeted spraying of young oil palms, including applications against rhinoceros beetles. The funding announcement connected product development with a practical distribution strategy: service centres in agricultural towns in Malaysia and Thailand offering equipment sales, servicing and spare parts. Training and knowledge-sharing were also part of that network, while further regional expansion was a stated ambition. The story illustrates a business approach to agricultural robotics in which local maintenance capacity and operator skills were treated as part of the product, alongside the aircraft and its software.
