Liberia's Central Agricultural Research Institute announced the installation of scientific sensors at the Buchanan Best Practice Hub under the RESADE project. The project focuses on agricultural resilience to salinity and technologies intended to benefit resource-constrained farmers.
CARI says the installation will collect soil, weather and water information for researchers and farmers. The report describes monitoring soil moisture, rainfall, temperature, humidity and irrigation-water conditions, with involvement from the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture. It does not publish sensor models, calibration results or measured yield improvements.
The hub is intended to serve farmers, students and extension staff as a demonstration site. Its observations are also expected to feed national agricultural research systems. The immediate development is installation and a planned advisory role, rather than evidence of a completed farm-impact assessment.
