FAO’s AgriTech Observatory review focuses on how farmers obtain drone services, drawing on more than 100 recorded initiatives and information from selected providers. Examples span Europe and Central Asia, including Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Poland and Türkiye.

The analysis identifies service-based access, understandable pricing, trained local operators, straightforward booking and demonstrations as recurring features. Providers can manage equipment, flight operations and processing while farmers pay for a job or area covered. Mapping results also need to arrive in a form that supports a specific decision.

FAO treats the cases as illustrative rather than a representative impact evaluation. Reported savings in individual examples should therefore remain provider claims, not universal expectations. Transport, fragmented plots, short weather windows and operator availability still limit the reach of otherwise promising services.
