The Canadian Agri-Food Automation and Intelligence Network presented ecoation’s ANT project as part of its funded innovation portfolio in February 2024. The North Vancouver company is developing an approach to a fully autonomous greenhouse mobility platform.

CAAIN reported a contribution of C$627,898 toward a total project value of C$1,868,993. Led by ecoation chief executive Saber Miresmailli, the work draws inspiration from ant colonies, in which different members carry out different functions. The funder described potential reductions in resource use and dependence on manual labour. Those benefits were presented as development aims rather than quantified outcomes from a completed commercial deployment.
