AGRARIAN began on 1 January 2024 under coordination of Greece’s National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos. The three-year Horizon Europe project received an EU contribution of just under €5 million.
Its programme centres on an open digital environment for agricultural applications. Proposed functions include secure connectivity, management of distributed infrastructure and deployment of services according to time and location requirements. The project also aims to adapt software for edge operation and develop agricultural decision support that reflects rural users’ needs. These objectives address the challenge of running data-intensive services across farms where network access and available computing resources can vary considerably.
