Hochschule Osnabrück reported on 30 June 2026 that Team Acorn had won the international Field Robot Event for a second consecutive year. The 22 students and doctoral researchers came from Hochschule Osnabrück and Universität Osnabrück through the Osnabotics association. The university said they won four of the five disciplines.
The competition was held during DLG Feldtage in Bernburg on 16–18 June. Tasks went beyond following crop rows: robots had to recognise diseased plants and animal species and carry out targeted soil treatment. Wageningen’s Robatic Bullseye finished second overall, followed by FREDT from TU Braunschweig. These are results from a structured student competition, rather than a certification of commercial readiness, but they provide a useful view of integrated sensing and autonomous action under outdoor conditions.
