In a November 2024 announcement, Weidemann introduced the Follow me assistance function for its 1190e imp electric loader. The machine can move behind an operator walking forwards, with the function activated by a key switch and controlled through a handheld remote. The operator must keep a button pressed, making this supervised assistance rather than unattended autonomy.
According to Weidemann, a virtual safety zone surrounds the machine: detecting a person, animal or object causes it to slow and stop. Automatic parking-brake functions support stopping and restarting. Suggested jobs include fencing and collecting pruning material or stones. The assistance function received a silver EuroTier Innovation Award in 2024.
