The University of Georgia reported on 4 June 2026 that its Grand Farm site had progressed from initial development toward full-scale technology trials. The 250-acre property in Perry includes row crops and orchard development, with irrigation improvements and infrastructure supported by state investment.
The collaboration with Grand Farm brings researchers, technology companies and growers together to test automation, sensing and other agricultural tools under regional conditions. The report describes opportunities for product validation, demonstrations and workforce development, alongside plans to extend useful findings beyond the site. The facility’s growing capacity should be distinguished from evidence that every participating technology has already demonstrated farm-level value.
