The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture announced José Peiretti’s appointment on 14 September 2026. He joined its Department of Biosystems Engineering and Soil Science on 1 September as a precision agriculture management Extension specialist for row crops, based in Jackson.

His programme will examine technologies for precision planting, nutrient management and crop protection, with an emphasis on independent data from Tennessee production conditions. Peiretti previously worked at Argentina’s INTA and completed doctoral research at Kansas State University. The appointment expands local evaluation and advisory capacity; it is not itself evidence that any specific equipment purchase will improve a farm’s profitability.
