In a results brief last updated on 2 December 2025, CORDIS reported PATH2DEA findings. Coordinated by the Austrian Institute of Technology, the project examined how existing digital tools could be adapted to agroecological farming rather than assuming that more technology automatically improved a production system.
A survey gathered 533 responses across eight countries, identifying cost, interface complexity, training and data concerns as barriers. Six showcase farms and cooperatives represented settings including horticulture, vineyards, agroforestry, olive production and cattle farming. Outputs included a repository of tools, an evaluation framework and a longer-term research and innovation roadmap. The results place biodiversity, management goals and usability alongside technical capability. They do not demonstrate that every listed tool delivers a measurable ecological benefit in every farming context.
