Microsoft’s FarmVibes.AI toolkit addresses the difficulty of combining agricultural datasets collected at different places, times and resolutions. The research release described workflows connecting sensor measurements with aerial imagery, optical satellite observations with radar, and local measurements with weather forecasts.
Examples included heat maps, cloud-gap reconstruction through SpaceEye, higher-resolution imagery and microclimate predictions. Microsoft made tools available for researchers and partners to build additional workflows, including analysis of farming practices and environmental outcomes. The toolkit is an enabling software resource: the existence of a workflow does not establish that every resulting recommendation is validated for all farms or crops.
