Mahindra showcased a driverless tractor developed at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai on 19 September 2017. The company described an automation package intended to perform agricultural tasks with different implements and to extend across tractor platforms over time.

The demonstrated functions included GPS-based straight-line steering, automatic headland turning, row-to-row movement and lifting or lowering the implement at row ends. A tablet interface, boundary restriction and remote engine stop were among the controls identified in the announcement. Mahindra stated plans for phased commercial introduction from early 2018. This archival report records the demonstration and the company’s plans at the time; it does not confirm that every proposed configuration subsequently entered production. Its technical significance was the coordination of vehicle motion with the implement’s working state.
