Magdeburg seeks joint robotics professor and Fraunhofer IFF director

Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is recruiting a W3 professor in Cognitive Robotic Systems and Production Automation who will also direct the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF. The role combines university research and teaching with scientific, strategic and financial responsibility for the institute.

The advertised research areas include digital twins, collaborative robotics, human–robot interaction and artificial intelligence for production systems. This is an industrial robotics leadership appointment, not a dedicated agricultural robotics post. The ResearchGate listing was published on 5 October 2026. Although that listing states an earlier deadline, the university’s official extension gives 31 October 2026 as the application receipt deadline.
