The UK government announced eight Robotics Adoption Hubs on 9 October, backed by £40 million across the network. HARVEST, based in Lincoln, will address adoption challenges in agriculture and food production through testbeds for arable crops, fruit, vegetables and food manufacturing.
The programme brings together universities, businesses and other partners to help potential users assess suitable technologies, understand costs and connect with suppliers, integrators and finance providers. Demonstrations and tailored advice are intended to support organisations moving from interest in robotics to practical deployment.
For HARVEST, the announcement identifies technical, commercial, regulatory and workforce barriers as areas for support. The £40 million is the network-wide backing, not an award to HARVEST alone. This is an adoption initiative; it does not establish that any particular harvesting robot has achieved a specified commercial performance.
