Lely presented its Sphere system during Future Farm Days on 6 October 2020. The concept separates manure from urine near the source and uses an extraction and filtering system to capture ammonia from the barn environment.
An automated Discovery Collector removes material from the floor, while separated streams retain different nutrient characteristics for subsequent fertiliser use. The launch report described operation on four test farms and initial focus on the Dutch market. It cited approximately 70% lower ammonia emissions in measurements available at that stage, while acknowledging that the full approval measurement process was still in progress at the time.
