Kubota announced on 6 August that it intends to launch a new Agri Robo Tractor MR Series in Japan in April 2027. The range will include manned and unmanned models, with remote monitoring intended to let users undertake other activities while autonomous fieldwork continues.

The company positions this as a further step beyond agricultural robots that require visual supervision at the worksite. Japan's agricultural labour shortages provide the context for developing machinery that reduces the time a skilled operator must spend beside a single task.

The launch remains upcoming. Kubota explicitly states that it has no plans to sell these products outside Japan. Its description of a domestic manufacturing first is based on the company's own research, and the announcement should not be read as evidence of unrestricted autonomy in every field condition.
