In its 23 September 2026 announcement, the Ohio State-led ICICLE AI Institute described a workflow connecting drone imagery with targeted spray plans. Images are transferred for analysis, plant detections become geospatial layers, and the system produces treatment waypoints distinguishing areas that require spraying from those that do not.
Other planned demonstrations included AI-assisted annotation, remote deployment of weed detection to a Jetson device and a conversational interface for field data. Farm Science Review ran on 22–24 September near London, Ohio. The announcement explains integrated research workflows; it does not establish a measured pesticide reduction or commercial return for every farm.
