The VDI presented Cornelia Weltzien with its Max-Eyth commemorative medal at LAND.TECHNIK in Osnabrück on 6 November 2024. ATB’s announcement connected the award with her work on digital agriculture, knowledge transfer and support for early-career engineers.
At the time of the announcement, Weltzien headed ATB’s Agromechatronics department and held TU Berlin’s professorship in sensor-based agricultural process control. The institute described a research portfolio spanning intelligent weeding robots, electric implements for mowing and the use of 5G connectivity and AI in field operations. Her teaching also includes interdisciplinary doctoral training through the Joint Lab AI and Data Science. The award draws attention to the engineering and educational work needed to connect sensing, machinery and practical agricultural decisions.
