VitiBot announced on 27 July 2022 that SAME Deutz-Fahr had acquired a majority stake in the French vineyard-robotics company. Based in Reims, VitiBot developed Bakus, an electric autonomous platform designed to straddle vineyard rows. The company said more than 50 Bakus machines were already working in vineyards when the transaction was announced.
The release described continued technical, industrial and commercial autonomy for VitiBot within SDF, alongside plans to accelerate recruitment and commercial development. This was a business milestone for vineyard robotics: a specialist manufacturer gained a larger industrial partner while retaining its own development organisation. The reported fleet size and organisational arrangements belong to the 2022 announcement and should not be read as a current inventory or a guarantee of performance on every vineyard geometry.
