Fendt published a development update for its Xaver sowing robots on 7 October 2020. The research platform adopted a three-wheel layout and a Precision Planting seed unit, with the rear wheel contributing to guidance and closing soil around the deposited seed. Fendt described integration with its VarioGuide guidance and FendtONE data environment.
The release specified a 20-litre seed tank and a 2.6 kWh battery, with the robot returning to a base station for charging. It also outlined a cloud-managed swarm in which several vehicles shared field work and reported their status. This was a strategic research project, not evidence of general commercial availability. Its lasting technical interest lies in connecting precise sowing locations with potential follow-up operations such as weeding and fertilisation.
