CLAAS’s September 2023 announcement introduced 3A, the Advanced Automation and Autonomy alliance formed with AgXeed and Amazone. The three companies proposed combining their expertise to advance the development, standardisation and market introduction of partly and fully autonomous tractor–implement combinations. The initiative was presented as open to additional machinery manufacturers.
The partners emphasised that automation requires closer cooperation between the vehicle supplier and the implement maker. CLAAS and Amazone were already minority investors in AgXeed, giving the alliance an existing technical and commercial foundation. The release also linked the effort to seasonal labour pressure, when harvesting, cultivation and the next sowing operation can overlap. It documented a coordination initiative, rather than a universal interoperability standard already implemented across all farm machinery.
