Burro announced a $24 million Series B round on 9 January 2024, co-led by Catalyst Investors and Translink Capital. The Philadelphia-based company said it had more than 300 robots in use, including harvest assistance in permanent crops and nurseries. These were company-reported deployment figures at the time of the announcement.
The same release introduced Burro Grande, with a stated payload of 1,500 pounds and towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. Its software incorporated LiDAR-based localisation intended to support movement across indoor and outdoor settings. Burro planned to expand its teams and dealer network. The commercial approach focused on moving material and assisting workers, showing that agricultural robotics can address transport bottlenecks without first solving the more difficult problem of selectively harvesting every fruit.
