DLG announced one gold and 17 silver Agritechnica Innovation Awards on 26 September 2023. The gold medal recognised the overall concept of New Holland’s CR twin-rotor combine, with attention to throughput within machine-width and axle-load constraints. The official description explains how drivetrain layout created space for a wider threshing channel.
Automation was part of that redesign. The machine concept included software-controlled blockage clearing, pressure-sensor feedback for crop distribution on the cleaning system, and camera-based control of straw chopping and spreading. The silver-award list also included Precision Planting’s Radicle Agronomics soil-sampling and laboratory workflow. Together, the examples show that digital farming can mean instrumenting and coordinating individual processes within existing farm operations, as well as introducing completely autonomous vehicles.
